Allright guys, I'm thinking of starting a danish forum for a forthcoming game I think will be very popular, and in demand of a place, where they can discuss "whatever" about the game.

My question is: Is it hard to start up a forum for a complete website/coding/scripting noob? And would it be able to generate income?

I'm new to all of this, allthough I have been lurking for quite some time, and all this seems VERY exciting!

And yes, I have searched and I found nothing

Setting up the script side of the forums is easy, making the forum popular and have people post is only done in legends....forums are a bitch to get going.

As for making money, as a few ads in the right areas and you will be good.

PS. gaming industry pays shit for ads.

Can you direct me to a place, where I can learn how to setup a forum properly and ask questions as they pop up? :)

And how do they pay compared to... Well, an average ad? :p

It's not that hard to set the Forum up. Most of them are ready to go once you install them. The more time you spend in them the easier it will get to edit them and start making them look the way you want. Most forums start out simple and as they grow so does the forum.

Once you get up and going you will find that you will have some guys that are designers and programmers on the site that you can bring in as mods that in return can help change the look and feel.

I would work first on getting a great domain name get the site up and then start marketing it. If no one can find it then it doesnt matter what the site looks like.

It's an matter of uploading the files. Going to the install directory. Setting up MYSQL databases with a click of a button :) Finally final details in the installation process such as Admin username/password.

Hey presto! You're done. Then you can add forums/categories/links etc :) It's very simple.

A large forum can be setup within 3 hours MAX, even for beginners. I deal with clients like this daily.. (StableLayer is a host).

Let me know if you need any help. I'd be more than happy to help you out.

    P/M me ;)

    Thanks.

Well, my domain name is "insert-game-name"forum.dk

As you can see, it's a danish forum, so it won't be as massive as the other domains will be. But for me, it's not just about starting a website to make money. I have been looking forward to this game, so I see it as a chance to create a friendly community where people can help each other + maybe make some a tiny bit of money.

And yeah, I will probably send you a msg sometime! :)

You can set up a free forum using Lefora.com

They respond exceptionally well to backlink building.
