1) Its tricky and hard niche full of competitors.
2) Its really hard to send real users into your dating site - thats why dating sites are paying 1-3$ per signup.
3) Its hard to monetize it because there are plenty of dating sites and users dont want to spend money on each of them

and MAIN IDEA :

IF YOU DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START FROM - better just leave it, because you will fail on this 100% and just will waste your time and money.
And if you think that you can do this without money like thousands, you can better close the BHW forum and go kick a ball with a friends outside

Go find yourself a nice free dating site script, you're fuckin' lucky they're all over the place these days sonny, in my day we had to walk uphill for two years in notepad to code a dating lander...

Go get a hostgator coupon and upload that bad boy...

Find yourself some member propagation data...

PS it's not as hard as you'd think to keep alive, all you need are a few hardcore addicted users to keep you afloat...

Better try to spend your time working as an affiliate to a dating site rather than build your own.

Definitely a good thing to remember, and also that you can do both! (as long as you get clearance from your AM 1st). I've worked with some simply outstanding adult affiliates over the years, many with great promo tools and smart AM's that are there to help, but they can't do everything and when you're pushing adult it's nice to be able to alter your own landers whenever you need to, as just an extra word or subtle nuance here and there can be the difference between getting a sale or not, hosting your own dating site gives you that edge.

I think it all boils down to expectations-- if you're wanting to just go out there and start the next match.com... don't. Those places build things and start out with the funding to advertise it everywhere and snare enough suckers to float by until they're profitable. If you're already driving a good amount of adult traffic and making sales and starting to think "hey it would be cool if I could capture all this traffic myself on my own site" then by all means, FUCKING DO IT, because YOU CAN.

The most difficult part of this (aside from driving traffic) is the payment part, for which a various number of solutions exist. Nowadays I think it's a little harder due to I believe Visa wanting this bigass deposit when you open your merchant account. If you can't swing that, start thinking of alternative ways to monetize, a points system tied to a paywall comes to mind.

With any community type internet thing, stats can be faked, so never let that hold you back. You can make it show you've a million registered users with 25k of them online, forums do it all the time. Keep in mind though that there's been litigation over this type of thing internationally, though in the stories on it I read there seems to be a large amount of fleecing going on with certain people starting it, I'd refrain from billing someone thousands if they lose their heads or whatever.

Bottom Line, if you decide to go through with it you'll need a unique angle. I think it would be wise of you to spend a year or two learning the ins and outs of internet marketing before you try to take on a massive project like this

I think there is a void in the 80+ singles looking for love market lol. but then none of them will know how to use the site haha
