Starting a CPM website

I have been looking into the possibility of starting my own CPM ad network and am looking for your advice.

I know there are loads and loads of sites like this with terrible ecpm, but still am looking into to making one for the challenge.

The script i am thinking in using is AD manager pro. I considered Inout ad server but it is too expensive.

SO if you have experience with ad manager pro, do you recommended it? Small learning curve?

How do you choose the ecpm through the different countries?

Which networks do you recommend to use to fill the banner space? I know i can't dream to sign with the top networks to feed the site with ads for the publishers but you might know one with less traffic requirements that still will manage me to provide a decent ecpm...

I just want to say this will be very very difficulty. People think they can just throw up an ad network and make instant money but that's not the case. I started a CPC ad network, and people just don't want to sign up to a new ad network when there are already respected ones.

I started around 300+ blogs and placed ads from my network on each one to try to get advertisers to sign up. My revenue share is set at 90% so the publisher gets paid well and it's still hard.

I wish you luck on your journey. Expect a lot of work.

It will be hard im sure. Finding advertisers would be a secondary objective. The main objective would be to get access to bigger advertisers websites to fill the ad spaces with cpm ads, because as you say, advertisers will go directly to those biggers ad networks.

Get a flash game or something very interactive and stick a CPM ad right above/below the game. Then you can try to get some viral traffic from reddit (they love games) or StumbleUpon. Any viral traffic source is the key for CPM as long as it's relatively high quality.
