Hi,

Is there any simple theme or plugins you will suggest to start with? I am making a news site and I want it to be simple.
And hopefully it's free and easy to modify

You can try using the Astra theme and the WPForms plugin for your news site. They are easy to use and modify, and they have free versions available.

Use wpastra, it has most of the feature for free. Use its free starter news sites it has a few of them. Avoid nulled pugin and themes. New news sites are prime target for hacking.

Try Astra or GeneratePress, both free, lightweight, and easy to customize

For plugins, use Elementor (free version), Yoast SEO, and WPForms to start
