So this isn't for money, but I've grown a base a subs on YouTube (1.2k) around the Trance genre. I make no money as LOTS of trance music is in youtube's database, but I still really enjoy it.

I want to start up a 24/7 stream, but don't know how. I obviously don't want to use my home computer, so how would I set it up? Do I use a VPS and set up OBS? I'm not too sure.

if you want.... you can use cheap VPS for $10-12 a months and hosting...

you need softwares to livestreaming in youtubes...

here full guide: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2907883?hl=en

i recommending you hosting on VPS.... cos if you hosting at home PC you cannot turn PC off... waste electricities and bills expensive....

and VPS can be on 24/7 (assuming it no downtime) and its internet speed fast too.... so it cna provide better smooth streamings.

good lucks

Why dont you want to use your home computer?
It'll take up my internet (I have a data cap) and also I'll have to be constantly streaming which will slow my computer down.

I am familiar with OBS and I've used it for years. The VPS is what I want to figure out. Why would I need hosting..? Can I not just get a VPS, connect, add the files, and stream?

Yes you can use a VPS. Depends on your budget though I guess @HostStage has some good offers if you are looking for a decent VPS provider.

To stream using OBS you need a machine with dedicated video card. There are no VPS with video cards.
You will need a dedicated server wich are expensive.

I recommend to use XSPLIT for broadcasting. Oh and you have to use Restream.io
This is a free service, where you can stream to many sites like YouTube , Twitch etc. at the same time :)

what is the requirement you need to stream 24/7?
i would suggest to use reliable VPS like vultr, digitalocean or linode.
quite cheap and good spec.

There is'nt much people in tchat so when he's here I'm sure he could answer you ! Channel is thescreamingfedora
