Good results and some good points were already advised by other users, but yes: subscription & Facebook likes will help to grow community and this is important since free traffic generates good income. Use reposting plugins so when new post come out it automatically goes to dozens of social media sites, that will help you sustain and grow traffic also.
Buying ads from Facebook can be pretty good since users can do up to 15 page views and ads can be pretty cheap if you optimized your campaigns ( less than 1 cent per click is real). Another good sources of traffic is native ads, but you have to look deeper, they have some restrictions and policies (like one networks doesn't want you to work with the other).
Like Jacking is also not that bad and you don't have to jack 100% of users. Until you do it on a low level, just to raise your community nobody will even notice you. As alternative to LJ you can just be aggressive in terms of like & share, some examples: ask to like page before showing content and asking to share when user is about to leave.
There's actually much more to that...but couple very brief advices)

Leave adsense, go for other ad networks.
You can use adsense as a backfill in DFP if you work with ad server.

Hi man, thanks alot for your post. Really usefull information.
I am currently looking to get my CPC to 1 cent in FB ads.
I have set Like Jacking to 35% of the users and only the mobile users. Is that a good rate?

It takes a time to optimize ads, but thats very possible. I personally stayed away from FB for a while, but decided to try and it worked.
In terms of LJ and % just make sure you don't add thousands a day and when you reach certain amount switch it off.
