I started a new niche site a few days ago. This was my first attempt at ranking a niche site, so I might have rushed it or done something wrong. I'll try to go through the steps which I took and hopefully you guys can give me some insight on the process.

Day 1
1. I did my keyword research using Longtail Pro Trial. I found a keyword in the technology category with an exact match TLD at about 20,000 local monthly searches, ~$2.50 CPC, and about 1-2 websites on page one that I felt I could beat in rank.
2. I bought the domain, setup my Wordpress site, and wrote up a 450 word article for it. I used Yoast's SEO plugin and optimized the keyword. I made sitemaps and indexed them with webmaster tools.
3. I also added in my Adsense ads.

Day 2
1. I wrote 2 more 400-500 word articles for related keywords and SEO'd both with meta and images.
2. I created accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Youtube, & Pinterest and started to share my articles. I shared one related link and my article link.
3. I started an AddMeFast account and started farming points.

Day 3
1. I started using my AddMeFast account to add 200 likes to my Facebook page and Youtube video per day.
2. My main keyword ranked: 193.
3. I decided to buy some Fiverr campaigns for social shares, social bookmarks, high PR sites, and 800 directory indexes. I had these pointed to my main site & articles to gain some more Tier 1 links.

Day 4
1. Two keywords ranked: 180 and 228.
2. My Fiverr gigs came in.
3. Later that night I noticed that both my keywords ranking had disappeared so I decided to buy a Tier 1, 2, 3 link pyramid gig.

Day 5 (Today)
1. Checked my rankings and they're still not showing up anymore.
2. I'm still waiting on my link pyramid gig to finish.

I was pretty happy to see my site rank, even if it still had a long way to go. I was disappointed to see it go and not come back. How am I doing so far? Am I going the right way, or did I screw it up already? It feels like everything was going steady until I bought the Fiverr gigs. I'm just really eager to get this to work, maybe I'm trying too hard. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Don't panic. New sites bounce around a lot before they stabilize. Build links consistently and you'll get a better picture of what your actual ranks are within 1-2 weeks.

Remember to keep primary anchor text percentage low beforehand.

This appears to be the infamous google dance. You're rankings are in fluctuation and should settle within a few days.

Its like a doctor telling you take two asprin and call me in the morning. so here goes write two more articles post them on your sight and it will be OK in the morning if not do it again.

it will dance a little bit more before getting stable. New links are like losing your virginity (i mean chicks :D). It hurts for the first few days and you walk sideways but you still do it.

Cheers
