So I just started a weight loss site and I'll end up writing articles myself for now. Do you guys think it's safe to add my adsense account to this or should I take an alternative router. If so, what's a good alternative to adsense? Also I'm planning on just advertising it on other articles with a linkback to get traffic since it seems that weightloss keywords are pretty competitive. Any suggestions for a no0b?

If you are creating unique content why not add the adsense.

Also remember to check out that the site has been optimized for the correct keywords to get the desired ranking positions (and don't forget to create backlinks to your site, only content won't get you ranking high).

Cheers

I copied all my content from an old blogspot to this new domain. The old blogspot was only about 3-5 days old with about 6-7 100-200 word mini-articles. That's the only reason why I'm worried about the adsense. :S

you created the blogspot blog at first what only was live for 6-7 days and now moved the content to your own site?

If this is the case then don't worry. Just remove the content from blogspot and now keep posting new articles to this new website.

Cheers

Congratulations for your new site. You are # 2,984,048,928 in the field...

That's what I did. Thanks a lot!

Alright I got everything set up. Wrote a 400 word article and have a bunch of mini 100-200 word articles. Just need traffic now -___-

It's very competitive niche .. write bigger articles (1000 words).
Focus on longtail keywords with lower competition.
Start building quality backlinks

Good Luck

I was actually planning on using the google alerts method to post links to my blog on other blogs.

you will have a long journey ahead of you buddy.. :)

1. Depending what your content is. If its weight loss pills or supplements, then this might be treated as selling drugs which I am not sure if will be ok for Adsense. You might want to check their TOS.

2. The niche which you have selected is way too competitive and this willl be a very long term project that will require a lot of work. Just saying this to get your expectations right.

3. Delete the old blog in order not to be treated as having duplicate content.

Goog luck

Yeah, like people have said this is a super-competitive niche. It is one of the most saturated niches in the market, along with things like giving up smoking and dating advice. So what you need to do is make sure that you can offer something a bit different within that niche. I would go for longer articles with long tail keywords and backlink it to hell and back.

If your keyword is something like "help losing weight" or "lose weight quickly", then with the best will in the world you could be writing Pulitzer Prize-levels of content and you'd still find this a hard niche to crack. The problem is that the less competitive niches are harder ones to write for. Look for a niche within the niche, and don't lose heart - there are some decent seams to mine.

The guy that owns "The Fat Furnace" weight loss is doing good. I know because I wrote articles for him.

As others have said, it's a tough one - but at least you've taken a step forward!

My suggestion for a noob. Don't waste your time in such a
hyper sensitive niche unless you own the weight loss supplement
that you are selling. Big waste of time otherwise. You'll bust your
ass writing and optimizing etc, and make peanuts if you are lucky.

Not worth the time & definitely not worth the effort.

I too am invested in the niche. Needless to say I am targeting one keyword at the moment that has a 50k search volume for one site as well as one with over 300k for another site. Sitting first page for these would increase my site's current income twentyfold as projected by my calculations.
