Started a niche experiment – building traffic from scratch (would love some feedback)

This is my second post here, and I wanted to share a bit more about my journey. I'm currently building out a niche project with unique content — not mainstream, but definitely a space with consistent demand and competition.


I'm focusing on long-tail keywords, manual backlinks (hence why I’m here), and some lightweight on-page SEO. So far, the site is getting indexed and pulling in a bit of organic traffic, but I know backlinks are going to make or break it.


I’m not using AI for content — I prefer writing and editing everything myself to avoid penalties and ensure quality. It’s slow, but I’m treating it as a long-term asset.


My main goals:
– Build backlinks gradually without raising red flags
– Experiment with a few Tier 2/3 link strategies
– Track what works in 2025 without burning the domain


If anyone has experience with link building for "difficult" or non-mainstream niches (you know what I mean), I’d love to hear your thoughts or methods that still work.

Quality-first is uncommon these days, so it's great to see someone else taking the slow and steady route. I have a similar niche that most people aren't aware of. For me, manual backlinks and subtle Tier 2s have been invaluable, particularly from old blog comments and forums that are relevant to my niche (when done right). Also, don’t ignore internal links, they help more than we think.

That's great you are not write content with AI. You should write informational content 90% & 10% review content in your site. Do internal linking properly. If you writing consistently you might get free backlink other site. You must check backlink spammy or not. If get spammy link then disavow from search console.
