Start your own affiliate program?

I was wondering, is it possible to create your own affiliate program?

I've searched and come accross a few scripts, but all the websites seem out dated. Basically, I'm wanting a script, or to script a website that will allow me to pay others to send visitors to my affiliate programs. I'm sure it must be possible, but I'm not sure how you'd make it track when the visitors make a purchase.

or even a script that would check for your affiliate cookie and credit an account if it was there.

It is possible. Like creating your own eBook and selling them in clickbank is one of the methods.
