start selling, what techniques?

I'm about to start selling my products on ebay (clothing), and I wonder what techniques should I do to to have good sales.
I was looking at the forum but found nothing concrete, it is important to stress that I want to use legal techniques "White hat".

I was searching in google and found some tips:

- It is better to place products in auction with a minimum of $ 9.99 (to encourage bidding)
- The products in which this complete its auction are the last to show up in searches

I do not understand what are the steps to follow once it my ad on Ebay. I expect the bids?
or should I take other actions?

Amazon I think you generate better sales than Ebay?
