Stars and stripes - suggestion

I don't know if it is just me but I really have problems to value the stars next to the nicks. At these times I only look at banners and the posts/thanked count to judge a new face.

Donor banners or a Jr. Vip signs are clear and hard to misunderstand.
But as example I had 5 nice blue stars next to my nick a week ago, I recently went up a level and now have just one star in a slightly changed color.

I know the system behind it is thought through but I personally lost track of what is good and what is less good.

Maybe we should limit the different colors to 2 or 3 (like gray, blue & silver stars) or increase size of the stars when a level goes up ?

Yeah man, I saw this thread and decided to take it up with the big man Be sure to thank Dave & Harro for this one.

We'd been going back and forth about what to do about the stars, but never really took action. I guess this thread gave us that final "push".

We're still tweaking some things out (see: my stars), so bare with us.

I felt a bit sad when my 5 stars went down to only one when reaching 501 posts

I had 3 stars with 2xx posts... when I hit 300 (one post ago), I was excited to get a 4th star. But no....

I don't really get the stars either, but I have faith these guys know what they are doing.... so i'll just roll with it.
