Does anyone know the difference between the standard seo and ecommerce seo? In my experience they are quite different from each other and have different metric to rank.
Can you elaborate a bit more as to what you mean by different metrics to rank? Thank you, also, in my opinion, most SEO is the same for any kind of website. Great UX, Content, & Links apply to all websites.
Oh but there is. I would say that e-commerce rely a lot on on-page SEO (different descriptions and meta data) as you cannot build links properly for thousands of pages (products). So you grow domain authority and do perfect inner linking so pages share the authroity.
Ad for standard SEO - it is way easier to build links for sepcific pages ...unless site also has thousands of pages ...
E-commerce SEO has higher chances of focusing on a product's sales or promotion. Thus from keywords to content, there must be different tweaks and tactics to make it audible to the right audience. On the other hand, Standard SEO is prone to have more informative content/help people be knowledgable.
Standard SEO is as it is, but E-commerce has ranking signals like:
- Domain age/Authority
- Third-party reviews (mainly verified)
- SSL usage
- Displaying Tel no/contact details of all pages
- If company registered with relevant authority
- Conversion rate after visits (I think they get this data from GA)
- If the images are unique (if you use the same image as anyone else than life is harder)
- Backlinks from relevant niche
- Social signals (very important)
- Voucher site presence
- How to or care guides relevant to your products on you blog
- If you have Brick and Mortar presence
These are off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more signals. Feel free to add/comment.
