Hi

I have the task of establishing a SEO department in an well established web agency.

Questions presented with 2 scenarios.

Normally I would use this resource to do an full audit and create an SEO proposal. Google search "How to Perform the World's Greatest SEO Audit'

Scenario 1
I'm instructed to create standard SEO package that we can forward to clients who only inquire about SEO. We don't want to be spending time doing an audit and then they decline an SEO Package. From my experience you cannot draw up a SEO strategy without doing an SEO audit, that is just too risky.

I spent at least 6 hours doing the audit and then creating the strategy, perhaps I am taking too much time, but you have to thorough.

What commons factors can I include in an standard SEO package?

You will always have clients you can sort of guess that they will not have enough SEO budget but they are still going to ask you to do an SEO proposal.

Scenario 2

Currently I have to create an SEO proposal for an client but I am not allowed to do a full audit as it will take to much time. I am also required to give time allocation to the SEO activities that should be applied on this specific client and it has to be as accurate as possible.

  1. How can I do a quick analysis of a website to determine an SEO Strategy that will last for 4 months.
  2. I reckon the focus areas will be broken down into;

  • on-site
  • off-site
  • link building
  • social media

Please let me know what you think, obv there are two mindsets in play here, an SEO strategist and a business owner of the web agency looking to expand their services by offering SEO.

Thank you.

Forgive me as I have just woken up but your Standard Package should include basic elements of the things mentioned:

  • on-site
  • off-site
  • link building
  • social media

You could have Standard Packages for each area and also offer a Complete Standard Package that would include all four.

And your Custom Package should have the complete Site Audit with recommendations covering the above but tailored to each individual client.

I am not an SEO Expert so hopefully one of the guys that run their own agencies will be along to give you advice.

Its a wonderful advise given by W130SN

Also, if you have made a standard package which includes all these (on page, off page, social media, link building) , then you can price them on the basis of number of keywords, The more the number of keywords, more work would be required to rank them and hence they will be costlier.

Mostly people who are not familiar with seo would like a standard package with nearly all things needed to rank. If the client is wellknown and ready to interact about their needs then you can do a custom for them. You can ask them about the previous seo works that have already done for the site to know more about the client as well.
