In Google listing on map the address name shows up as "St" for example: 123 Maple St

But in Google My Business dashboard it shows up as "Street" i.e. 123 Maple Street

So for local citations/bookmarking should we be using 123 Maple Street or 123 Maple St?

Or does it not matter to Google?

Thanks...

For citations use the address in the exact same way as it is in your Google my business page, even thought there is no problem for G to understand that St is the same a street. It's not 2014 any more, they evolved in that respect.

I think you need to read post again. On map Google has street as "St" as in 123 Maple St ... and in dashboard it has street as "Street" as in 123 Maple Street

No my friend, i think you need to re-read my post, coz the answer is there.

St. is the short form of Street.

That’s not a big deal.

Just sayin'

OP says clearly that Google My business lists the address 2 ways. So are you saying use the address the same way it is listed on the Google my Business dashboard (street) or on the Google my business map listing (St)?

Just change the address on Google my business to match it with the Google maps

Its doesn't matter. St. and street as usual same things. Don't think of it

I always go with the full spelling when I build local citations, but that's just a personal preference. As for which one you should choose, I say go with the one that's being displayed to the public on the map listing as that's the one that'll presumably be crawled. I've always been under the notion that Google recognises common abbreviations for Street (St), Avenue (Ave), and Suite (Ste).

There will always be some inconsistencies in your name, address, and phone number (NAPs) when you build citations. For example, one of my clients has her number listed as "555-555-5555" on her Google MyBusiness page, but then there are directories which list her business that only accepted a "(555) 555-5555" format, and display it that way as a result.

The "consistency" part of your NAPs that's important have to do with the following:
  1. Your business' name being spelt correctly (e.g, to differentiate "John the Baker" from "John the Barker")
  2. Your street address being spelt correct (e.g., to differentiate "123 Sesame Street" from "123 Sesam Street". For all Google knows, there's a business on 123 Sesam Street, too)
  3. Your phone number being the same. I don't need to explain how 123-456-7890 and 123-456-7899 are different phone numbers.
Additionally, here's a link to Google's local business quality guidelines below. You might find them useful.
