SSD instead of HDD ?

True. SEO tools need more ram and processing power. Your ssd will be used only when they save the reports. It will not speed up ur SEO activity. If you use photoshop or Movie editors (and install them on ur SSD drive) you will see slight performance improvement (I use them and experiance minor improvment). But over all it will just make ur boot and file opening faster. NO VISIBLE ADVANTAGE ON USING SEO SOFTWARE. (get a vps instead)

Your battery will last a lot longer too. SSD's run off of less power. No spinning disks and moving arm. Less heat too. It's more of an economics question, really. If you are making money from IM, you laptop is a tool. Professionals have top-quality tools. That doesn't mean throw money away for no reason, but an SSD upgrade is a reasonable thing for a professional IM'er (that can afford it) to do. You might also check the specs of the laptop and see what the max upgrade for RAM is, as 6 Gbyte is a bit on the light side, especially if you are running multiple apps simultaneously.
 
In a nutshell, SSD is the nextgen technology. If will have to upgrade to it sometime later if you don't do it now.
 
SSD is used mainly for the operating system. Once you switch your OS to SDD you will never go back to HDD. Definitely worth it. And if you remove your optical drive (which you don't use often these days) then you can have both SSD for OS and a HDD for storage.

Removing the optical drive (DVD burner) is a good suggestion. I didn't know you could install an SSD in place of the optical. You can buy an external USB optical drive if necessary. I hardly ever use the thing.

i have 6gb ram now it support max 8
 
SSD's are worth it. I am just waiting for the higher capacity models to come down in price a little.

You should also increase your RAM to 8GB and you will good for a while.
 
I you need speed then go for it but i guess with your specs its not gonna help you much.
Better go buy a good quality hdd.

this is what i have now,purchased about 2 years ago,the change i made was from 4gb RAM to 6Gb RAM ,still support til 8gb

now i am thinking to change his HDD with a SSD

u think is so crap?
 
if it is laptop why would you do that? sure you get faster boots, but ssd are expensive. mostly people use them for boot drives so the pc would turn on faster, but if you're on a laptop you can't add more hdd for it so you're only limited to the space the hdd has
