Squidoo URL's

I have noticed that there are some incredibly good URL's available on squidoo. Stuff you could only dream of as a .com.

Does any one think that these have any value coz they are dead easy to snap up - I think?!

They cost you nothing - all you do is go n create a lense and then just leave it at your dash board. you don't have to put any content in at all. You can think ahead and get some pretty tight URL's.

Now I know its not a .com name and I don't know how you would rank in Google against the same.com name but even if you just lived in the world of squidoo and hit the 1st page of the search results there that would be fantastic right?

Squidoo's popularity algorithm or whatever you want to call it probably works in a completely different way to Google's but it is said quite a lot here at BHW, about having a domain name that matches your keyword exactly.

If this is true then there are a lot of possibilities on squidoo which may grow to be one of the largest sites on the web.

you have hit the nail on the head.... however most people jump for the longtail keyphrases to rank high in google with them. Best of luck to you

Yes, there is potential there. I think squidoo is more jumpy than google is and that's saying something. I had a lens that was ranking really well and then one day just started dropping, even though I kept updating it and adding things to it. Just one of those things I guess.

If you don't put any content in it, what's the use of tying up the url?

You WON'T be on the first page of the search results in squidoo if you don't have any content.

To get the first page of results in squidoo, your lens has to rank better than other lenses using the same keyword in their content and urls.

Yes, it is possible to compete with .coms thru squidoo........google will choose only the top squidoo lenses to rank well for any given keyword. I'm not positive, but I believe that google only will choose the highest ranked squidoo lens in their results..........not the highest 5 for any keyword, the highest 1 squidoo lens for that keyword.

I've been just snatching up squidoo links for the past month, got so many to work on and not enough time.

You would be surprised but some people actually pay money to have a squidoo lense.

That's right if you get a nice keyword, but is very competitive, you aren't going to get much organic traffic. If you have a long tail keyword, and create a lens, you will get indexed quick, and get to the top relatively quick too, more traffic from google, higher lens rank.
