Squidoo is closing down

Best thing that could happen to them!

I tried an article on their recently for the hell of it and it got removed in a few hours. (No violations that I could see)

They had some weird automatic system that should prevent spam. Instead it was too hard to publish completely normal article.

This just reinforces my belief that the only logical thing to do is to buy Hosting + Domain/s, and write for yourself...

All the other possibilities, revenue sharing sites, social media sites, forums, all of that is gambling with your time and content. Now, I'm not saying one should stay away from those, but anything serious one should do only on their self-hosted sites, and then use revenue sharing sites and social media and forums for ranking/promoting/marketing/backlinks/traffic...

This... is no good news. Instead of two referring domains now you'll have one if you had any Squidoo links. IMHO Squidoo was pretty awesome actually. Not EASY to get started up, but really good.

Squidoo must have made millions over the years though bet the team that created Squidoo are filthy rich with all that garbage content clogging the internet up lol.

I never understood the affiliate monetization they used on their site it just cluttered the site even more with ads.

Even with just adsense they would have raked in millions a month from clicks.

This acquisition came as a shocker to me. Totally agree with aka sam

Change is all that there is.
Nothing is permanent in this world.
I agree hosting your own content is a lot better.

I hate squidoo they never approve my lens. Hubpages also sucks.

Everything is just about obsolete when you can just build your own network. Why fit into someones bubble
when you can blow your own bubble. :)

Both Hubpages and Squidoo are in top 1500 Alexa.com. After Squidoo become in Hubpages management, what is the new name? Hub Squidoo Pages?? :D

Only few days back I created new lens there but still dint get approved. Lets see the changes after this :)

lol, lol, lol, because hosting a webdomain is so expensive?

Great! More diversity going down the toilet..../sarcasm

Yahoo voices closed down, Demand media doesn't do profit. Now Squidoo is closing down. Why do you think is happening this? They have enormous amount of traffic. Are expenses for staff and hosting higher than profit?
