Still traffic must be same and having a worthy nofollow link is also useful. But, we do have many different properties to work with. so, it is not a big deal i think.

They have also started cracking down hard on duplicate content. Gotta make sure you spin the living hell out of the articles before you post them.

Doing it the wiki way (making all nofollow) seems like a cheap and "cowardly" solution IMO.
If everyone starts doing it it'll ruin the whole nofollow/******** essence.

******** isn't all what you want from the backlink. Still the no follow link from squidoo has a big power (only when a article is worth it) and you can get a lot of traffic

I'm pretty confident that Google is going to put pressure on more Web 2.0 to turn links to nofollow just in time for Penguin 3.

As long as there is a good amount of traffic, nofollow does not matter. Recently, majority of my backlinks (over 70%) are nofollow, yet traffic keeps increasing...and I think that's the most important part. Unless, you are selling links :)

Personally, I don't worry about getting nofollow links. That's my personal opinion only. I know a lot of people will disagree specially those who are after page rank. And, I think... even those nofollow links coming from authoritative sites/blogs still pass authority. However, these links are difficult to get, but worth going for.

they are also making internal links nofollow which just seems crazy!

I have a site which has some high pr lenses pointing to it. expecting a drop soon, nothing yet.

I suspect google weighs links from authority sites like Squidoo differently. I would not worry about no follow / do follow on sites like this. It is heavily moderated and they take down spammy lenses all the time. I will still build quality links there.

hm, wonder how hard that's going to hit certain webmasters sites.. if they had multiple high PR squidoo links boosting their sites rankings this nofollow rule is going to slam them.

They still drive great traffic for all our clients and stall have a great serp effect.

Good grief, that sucks. Well, I'm not going to put a ton of effort in making any more lenses. Thanks for the info, it probably would have been a while before I realized this. At least we can potentially make a little money on there and funnel traffic. I'm kinda bummed out about this though....
