Hello i need some help to use my Squid proxy server that i recently installed on my VPS (Centos 7).
It is installed correctly and is running when i write the command "systemctl status squid"
I use the vi /etc/squid/squid.conf command to add my IP address ( the address of my VPS) as authorized user and restart squid. However the squid proxy server is not loading when i use it in my LAN settings in my Chrome Browser. Can someone tell me what could have gone wrong?

Did you check the log at /var/log/squid? What does it say?

Have you got a firewall installed? Maybe it’s blocking port 80? Or maybe you need apache installed alongside squid to make web access work?

did you changed http_access deny all to allow all.
and squid default port is 3128

cat /var/log/squid

The squid default port is set at 3128
And i have:
# from where browsing should be allowed
http_access allow localnet
http_access allow localhost
http_access allow lan (i included this from a tutorial i saw on youtube)

# And finally deny all other access to this proxy
http_access deny all (should i change this to access all?

its very hard to fix you problem, you should give access to someone to fix u problem.

When i enter that i get the error :
cat: /var/log/squid: Is a directory
LS is the next command. Try seeing what is there, or get a server guy, duh.

NO, that is not the problem. The problem is that you have no idea what you are doing. Sorry for being rude. Perhaps you need those shared ones.. lulz :D

i tried this command tail -f /var/log/squid/access.log that i saw online but i am not seeing anything running in Putty.

Tried that and did a restart of squid and still cannot access server. I am wondering if the VPS service has blocked such activity on there VPS.

The way you learn things is that you try to figure them out, that is how i learnt a lot using the computer, i am self taught in all aspect. I built my own websites just by learning stuff online.

Good. Try learning the basics first. Ls, and cat; those are the two things you should know before starting anything. Linux basics ... Go for it.

Basics first.. squid second ..
