spying tactics on other ecom stores

What is the best way to go about gettting more data about a competitors revnue/daily site traffic if ? I've been doing some pixel manip and have the whatruns app to see their backend. I've used salesource.io but is there any sense in this tool being accurate or is it a shot in the air.
