To answer your number 1 question, i don't understand what you mean by "prevent"?
...but if you are looking to spy into your competitors ads, you can use Semrush or Spyfu

1. I dont think there is any way you can prevent them showing your ads.

2. Use adspy. It shows your competitors interest targeting as well.

2. We also use adspy, of course it's not perfect but it gives you a great starting point.

Overall good old audience research does the job for me!

Facebook hosts a library of all advertisements by people on their platform, and there is no way to get around it. I suppose naming yourself something which someone would not think of to cold-search for companies running ads in your niche might help, but it might also not be the best for your SEO.

Facebook provides a database of all folk's ads and there's no going around everything. I think calling oneself might be useful, but it might not be better for your SEO, when someone does not want to look for businesses with advertising in his/her niche.

1. Was already answered that there is no way to hide your ads from the public because FB shows them on your fan page for all to see. If you wanted to hide them from spy tools, you would need to come up with a list of their bots IPs or some other type of bot detection because most of them will also visit your site, not just snap your ad. But anyone visiting your fan page can see what you are running.
2. Someone mention adspy but I don’t think any tool can tell you what interests an advertiser is targeting. Only people with access to ad account know that. A simple spy tool can not tell you that. They might try to guess from landing page keywords or ad copy, but they don’t really know.
