Hey

I do CPA since 3 months and i always simply can't decide between spun content or thin content. What is better? In my best times, i can do 600-1000 words per article. However there are so many keywords that id need at least 7k words to include them all.

But the thing is, these things are cpa offers so writing these fake articles is basically lying and its not really that important for the sake of conversion.

Thats why I wonder if I should put less content with less keywords but make it nice unique readable or put some hidden spun content that is unreadable but only for the sake of search engines?

Im not sure if search engine can differentiate spun content from readable content

I will go for spun one if people arent reading. If you have traffic without who dont need to read to convert use spinrewriter to get okay contet. You can create hundreds of articles with that

Google is getting a LOT better at spotting spun content. You risk losing everything is you use spun. If that is an acceptable risk, then you can use spun.

Do you actually rank that spun content?

Using spun content is a sign of short term thinking. A page might not seem valuable now but it could be in the future, and using spun content risks getting that page punished.

You can build on thin content in the future, spun content tends to create holes you need to dig yourself out of.

I rarely talk about my own findings cuz they are theories I come up from my own testing. But as someone asked here is what I've found

Google doesn't understand spun content, but they understand quality content. By quality content I don't mean for human but for bots. Google is just a code, and a code doesn't have neither eyes nor brain. However, they use metrics like bonus rate, duration on site to know how engaging is the content. Although it has very small effect on ranking like ahrefs proved in their study.

Now, google basically use content and backlinks to rank the website. And it's pretty good in defining quality content. So, if you have poor content whether it's spun or not it won't be the same value as the quality one. However, if you have authority domain, or access to authority backlinks you can rank shitty content.

I made a small cause study. I created some spun content ( readable and correct words with good grammar ) on a fresh website. I made another one in the same niche and made my wife ( English isn't her native language ) write the articles for it. Spun content did way better :D. Again, it's the quality of content.

I depend heavily on content cuz I hate investing in links. I never target keyword if I can't appear in top 40 without any backlinks and push it top 20 with some interlinking. So, I know the value of content, may be more than most as it's 80% of my money source. However, this doesn't mean giving google superpowers.

So, again, if you are doing keyword research to find good keywords and rank them. Content is the easiest route to achieve that. But if you are depending on landing pages, CPA or whatever method where your users don't need content to convert, and you don't care about ranking it, then, spun content can be indexed

Just see all the SEO services in market thread selling links in spun articles and it does wonders to people websites. So, it's not a secret that spun content can be indexed, but you will have harder time ranking it.

I actually have a piece of SPUN content on one my domains ( intended for PBN use but ended up using it for testing) ranking #16 for a 4,400 monthly search term by itself.
Well, i hope that clears the fog.

thanks for such long post. First of all these are not only your theories as I have one site banned that was generally FULL OF spun content. I think i didnt spun properly cause it didnt pass copyscape if i remember well.
Anyway just before it got banned my user signals lowered significantly from 3minutes sessions to 30sec sessions due to adding some low quality posts with some scraper wordpress plugin. that kinda ripped whole site.
and i was the dumb one to put google analytics so they see all the signals.

Now i think of it, google analytics can help with ranking your site if you can fake user signals, for example put a popup that will make them wait 5 minutes, then give them normal file to download instead of the CPA offer so they download the hack and are sure its working. they close the internet tab cause there was no survey, so they dont go back to search results. I believe faking this with analytics on can give a boost to the site. and i believe user signals were the reason why my site was probably reviewed by "google manual assessor"

about the reading and grammar, generally i can write content that will reach 75% of readibility on flesch kincaid test which makes it very easy to read. You said its harder to rank spun content, and ive noticed spun content has about 40-60% readibility depending on the source (wordai keeps more readiblity of an original article than thebestspinner for example). I think bans are rather related to having affilate links, duplicate content, wrong interlinking, keyword stuffing and very low user signals especially, than a spun content. having this on mind, only thing that is different is the readibility score, thus text with less readibility score(there are many plugins to check it) will rank significantly lower or not at all? I can't tell

in some part yes.

This sounds to me like: "Should I suicide with a knife or with a gun?"

lmao thats fun

@edit

however now i reminded that i have a site which scraped about 300 posts since last two months and then spinned everything. its not even getting 10 views a day even if 200 pages are indexed in google. however i believe one hand written article from one of these niches would bring much more views without backlinks, so maybe spun content really ranks lower

Just saying.

Adwords had a "quality score" like more than 8 years ago already, where the main factor was the quality of the content.

Do you think that after 8 fuckin years they haven't implemented the 500x better version into their Serp algorithms? You may rank with spun content and shit content, sure, I did it in the past. But it will take more effort and you won't last there long.

Also, spun/low quality content is a onsite SEO thing basically. The better your onsite SEO, the less offsite SEO you need and vice versa. So is it worth it to waste XY% more money on backlinks, than getting some stupid $1/100 article?

Nice share especially about the case study

Go for unique content even if its thin to start with as you can always add more content to the page. Avoid spun content for your money site as all your efforts would be rendered futile with either an algo penalty or manual action.
