I have "The Best Spinner" and have fooled with it for a week. It takes way too long to get an article right. Speed is not its redeeming quality. You can spend hours working on an article in TBS.
I wrote 4 excellent 700 word articles this morning but couldn't take the chance of using TBS to get them done quickly.
It is a very good thesaurus, but I'm not seeing the value in much else there.
As you said, you can spend hours working on a single article.
IMHO, the question that must be answered when spinning a particular articles is "How much time is spinning THIS particular article worth?".
If you are going to use the article mainly for back-links, then generating masterpieces probably doesn't matter much. An article with bad grammar provides the same link that a well-written one does.
If your goal is to capture a reader who is interested in the article contents and have him click on a related link at the bottom to go to your money site, then the contents matter much more. A reader is much more likely to finish reading a well-written article than one that requires deciphering. In this case, your article is more of an income-stream generator since your goal is to send a interested visitor to your money site.
I think there are spinners that spin by the sentence. What if you took every sentence of the article and re-wrote it a couple of times and then spun it. As long as every re-written sentence is saying the same thing then it should make sense. Shouldn't it? Would this create better spun articles to submit to article directories?
In essence, this is basically what you end up doing when you want to product near-perfect spin text.
As you mention, each sentence relays the same message using different words and a different overall pattern.
You'd basically end up with

I use this approach:
1) Write a paragraph
2) Break it down into individual sentences
3) Write 2 alternatives for each sentence
4) Spin each sentence - verifying that they will ALWAYS result in grammatically correct output.
5) Bundle each group of spun sentences into one spin group.
6) Bundle all spin groups into a spun paragraph.
In the end you will end up with very well spun output that is relaying the same message in many different ways. If you take your time, it will likely be impossible to determine the content was generated by a spinner.
a new spinner needs creating, that the app can analyze sentences and words and spit out synonymous sentences that read correct, all with just 1 click. Such a tool could sell for $997 easy.
Why $997 and not $996
This doesn't work because the english language has rules which do not follow logic. A lot also depends on context, and the same word can have different meanings in different sentences.
So, for example, you could have:
If you really {want|wish|desire} {to|so as to|in order to} {buy|get|acquire} xrumer
Which will produce
If you really desire in order to acquire xrumer
This is a grammar mistake. I think Google is sohpisticated enough to pick up on multiple grammar mistakes like this.
That's one example I thought of, off the top of my head. There are many worse possibilities for errors.
How is a simple spinning program meant to work out that "so as to" and "in order to" are not appropriate for this sentence? They are both popular synonyms associated with "to".
I think things are as good as they'll get for a long while with regard to spinners.
This is a great example of why one or two level spinning is not good enough for creating perfect results.
Like I said above, it really depends on what you want to use the spun content for.
