Hi BHW!
any alternatives to spp.co Service Provider Pro?
being looking into client management software but I am a bit lost as there are so many options to choose from,
any ideas are welcome

I was actually thinking to build something for people selling seo, before I was aware of spp.co.

Out of curiosity, why are you looking for an alternative, is a must have feature missing from them?

Looking alternatives as well.

They cost way too much for what they offer. You cannot even notify your client that the order has been completed, they don't send notifications out unless your client specifically opts-in through the panel which 99% of them are not.

@kimomalcolmx

I've been using Nifty PM Tool in last few months. It's one terrific project management tool if you're not looking at pricing.

Does the job really great for us. They have functionalities stated by @INCC above

If you by notify you mean email them automatically, I guess it's a legal requirement for them to opt in before getting notification, but at the same time, they could probably make it easier to opt in, because I've recently used it and I didn't see any checkbox to get notifications as far as I remember.

Why not use wordpress/woocommerce for this?
Something like
Woocommerce.
PPOM for WooCommerce.
SMTP Mailjet/Sendinblue etc.....

You can notify your customers from woocommerce itself adding a customer note in the order page.
Plus you can extend the functionality by using other wordpress plugins.

Did you try to encourage them to opt-in? For example when they sign up send them a message that says: "Get notified as soon as your project is complete. Enable email communication here (link to the form). You can unsubscribe anytime."

No I did not because it's not very convenient either. Even if you do this then you still need to check who has opted in and whos not and chase them via their contact details. I don't think there is any legal requirements for their service to send automated updates. Whatever you buy from Shopify you'll always get updated and you are not opting-in manually anywhere, as is with many other services. So paying 79 $ per month I would like to have at least some basic functionality.

This is not true. The opt-in field which you can add to your forms is entirely optional. It's there if you would like to be GDPR compatible as it controls whether clients will be subscribed to your email marketing tool like ActiveCampaign or Mailchimp.

Any notification you post in the order messages will be sent to the client via email. Inside the email there will be a way for clients to disable email notifications for new project updates if they don't wish to receive them. We put it in to protect our sender reputation and ensure your important project updates reach the inbox not spam. The "disable notifications" link should be removable from the template editor.

If you wanted to automate notifications on order status changes you could use Zapier for it, or set up a saved reply which you can trigger from the order messages section.

Happy to address any other questions or concerns.

Any other alternatives?

I'm still using SPP since 2015, and still with their cheapest plan $29/month. Managing few clients, selling services. However I still stuck at v.1 (I know it's v.3 now and comes with a lot of new features - but I don't need most of them). I only need their basic features though.. I need to change my domain but they said it is impossible since I'm locked with the "old plan" I wish to upgrade but their price seems skyrocket.. LOL..

So, do you guys know any other alternatives?

hello :)

The reason Payment issues due to RBI Update. Plz check this message

Reason for transaction decline is: Effective 1st Oct 2021, the Bank will have to decline all such recurring transactions on cards initiated by merchants non compliant with the new RBI guidelines.

Here are critical points for you to know:

1. Applicable on Recurring / Standing Instructions transactions from merchants who comply with the new RBI guidelines,

a) On a transaction of value up to Rs. 5000, the Bank will process it without the need of OTP for validation

b) On a transaction of value above Rs. 5000, it will require OTP validation via pre debit (before the payment) notification

Today, I got this email from support..

RE: Payment Issues Again

Hi there,

I’m afraid we can’t continue to invoice every 3 months. Instead, we can create a proper subscription for 1 year manually once you pay the yearly invoice:

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Deian

I'm using 2 accounts. It's Not possible for me to pay $1557.6 for 2 SPP accounts.

We can pay you with the help of a credit card.

-> 3 Months Invoice of 3d Secure Pin. Once OTP get triggered, transaction will get through.

-> we can pay monthly with paypal ( the best option)

-> fastspring.com ( aherf is using is working very well)

-> BTC should work..

Plz let me know if we can use any such option, otherwise unfortunately, we have to stop using your services.

Thanks

You can use woocomerce with some plugins to add fields to product & checkout page.
Newsletter & SMTP plugins can handle emails.
You can use default woocomerce notes to send updates to clients or use the free version of wooconvo plugin for chat like feature for orders.
You can also get your front end theme customised if you want.

This thread is a bit old but I'm actively looking for alternatives as well. SPP is great but their price hikes have been really painful.

Same here.. Maybe there is one time payment solution for this.. or a wordpress plugin which does the job similarly to SPP.

I didnt find anything exactly similar - I guess until then i be paying that 150 $ per month (VAT applied).

Unreal prices really.

I've been using SPP for 50 months and got my subscription canceled by SPP few days ago..

We've recently raised all existing subscriptions to our new pricing and deprecated grandfathered plans anyway, we no longer offer any groundfathered pricing overall, so you'll have to resubscribe on our most recent pricing.

What can I say? I am just a tiny fish in the ocean :)

As for SPP - what can I say.
It's good enough but it's a pity that they have only 2 payment options: paypal & stripe.
I would be glad if they could have some other ones.
