10 years ago I was at a transitional point in my life. A crossroads. I decided I wasn't going to work for anyone ever again. I decided I would never struggle for something I really didn't want, ever again. That day my girlfriend and I packed up our shit and went to live in a tent, traveling the East Coast of the US for the next year. No job, very little money, just an ideal.

At one point we found ourselves completely broke, no food, no gas in the car, nothing. At that time we were on the coast of South Florida. I can tell you, the tropical beaches are not so fun when your hungry. Really hungry. But I don't like being hungry and I don't like being broke. So I started digging around in the trunk of my car.

After a bit of rummaging around, I found some old silver plated silverware we had picked up somewhere. I also happen to have a couple hand tools. A hammer, pair of pliers, and a bit of wire (yeah I know weird shit to have in the trunk but it's what I had). Also I had inspiration. I fucking hammered those silver spoons out flat, bent em up into weird ass shapes, wired some seashells we collected to them and headed my happy ass down to the beach.

We sold every one of my silver plated silverware seashell necklace pendants that day. And then when we ran out we still had a half a spool of wire left. My girlfriend (now wife) the fucking wonderful genius that she is, proceeded to sell seashells down by the fucking seashore. I shit you not. Even better, she had people bringing the shells to her, and she would then charge them $5 to $10 bucks a pop to wire wrap them into a pendant.

We made over $300 that weekend. Some people will beg. Some want to be spoon fed. Some of us just go out and get that shit. If you want to make money, really want to make money, you will find a way. Think about that next time youre looking for a handout or spoon feeding. Just my two cents.

you are right of course. I live surrounded by big expensive mansions with wives who spend lots in some of the posh stores in london, top fashion places.
I used to go through their bins and take out all the carrier bags from these brands like versace, harrods etc and sell them on Ebay for £10.00 each. Oh those were the days

There is always a way. And though I have come a long way from those days they will always be some of my fondest memories.

yes i had to give up on that little enterprise when i got caught going through some bins LOL! Buti was young then and learned that there is money to be made anywhere, you just need the desire.
i know people who have built businesses selling all sorts of crap

This will inspired us to dont give up with our life no matter how hard it is.

Necessity is the mother of inspiration. Sometimes when your in a tough spot if you just refuse to accept defeat and push forward like a champion, things will come together for you. There's a quote I always like to keep in mind. Not sure where it originated but it goes something like this:

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

Begin it now my friends.

"In life, you will always be faced with a series of God-ordained opportunities brilliantly disguised as problems and challenges." – Charles Udall

I really like that one. It sums it up so nicely. If we view our "problems" as challenges, we begin to seem them as opportunities to advance rather than pitfalls or stumbling blocks. That is the key to success and happiness. We are all faced with challenges in our life. It's what we do with them that makes us who we are.

Thanks man, I needed this reminder today. I'm working on a long shot and I feel like I'm in over my head.
Some days I feel like I'm swinging for the fences, and other days I think I'm aiming for the bushes.

Fuck it all that's where my grannies silverware went.

Tell your granny I'm sorry bout the silverware and say hi to your mom for me while your at it ;)

Bull shit...so u living like a gipsy day by day...and if u have money today, u dont think for tomorrow? No thanks man..I will pass ;)

Who said I have no money today? I have 2 houses a Lexus and a BMW bro. I said I still travel up and down the East Coast, just not with a tent anymore.

I wouldn't trade those days for anything though. Those days earned me my freedom from working for someone else. Haven't had a job since that day 10 years ago.

I'm chilling in the Florida keys as we speak, soaking up some sun after my five mile run this morning. Wifey cooking some lunch. No schedule, no one to answer to. You tell me who won? Gypsy? Smh, maybe you should try it.

reminds me of this funny episode http://www.20thcenturyfox-tvd.com/sites/microsites/mnie_s3/episodes/season2/episode11.html

download the video and watch it as its extremely funny and you can pick up some tips on how to make money too when desperate lol

Haha that's a good one. My silverware was not so valuable in and of itself. I had purchased it at some thrift shop for two or three bucks because at the time I thought it might be sterling (was new to the precious metals game back then). Almost tossed it a couple times but boy I am sure glad I didn't. Not only did we earn some much needed cash that weekend, but we learned something that is worth more than a solid gold set of silverware.

The story is inspiring.I like it! Too bad it's not the truth but I appreciate it anyway! :)

As long as your inspired I don't care whether you believe it or not. The fact is most people don't even believe in themselves so it's no wonder they have a hard time believing a story as mundane as mine. I didn't invent cold fusion here, I just never gave up.
