Spending 200$ for huffington backlink

When I started my authority website two years ago, I had few backlinks. At this stage, I succeeded to place a nofollow backlink on a highly relevant Wikipedia page (pointed to one of my blog post). The link is still there after 2 years. It never gave me a SEO boost or a better ranking of the linked deep page in the Google SERP for the related keyword.

But, it gave me relevancy and topical flow.

It gave me a couple of visits each month.

As it costed me nothing, I am pleased. But by experience, I won't purchase a nofollow backlink. Except if it can give me a lot of visitors AND if I can convert them (it could be just to obtain their email addresses by subscribing to my mailing list).

$200 for a huffpost backlink - especially nofollow at that? I can't see it. Can't you just write your own guest post and get a backlink from the site that way? I haven't tried pitching to the huffpost, but I've heard from several people that it's not really hard to get a guest post accepted there.

Huff post will help if you get a featured article there somehow. It will cost more than that though. But no follow link is not good to buy anyway.
Cheers

with this money you can buy much more reddit posts as well as votes...
