SPammed domain, will the history be cleaned after 301 redirect?

I have an expired domain with pretty stron metrics, but checking thorugh wayback machine, I found that it has been used as PBN and for some other spam processes before its death. But backlink profile is clean, I assume the high spam score on MOZ is shown cause of its bad history. What happens if I 301 redirect it to new clean domain? As far as I concerned 301 redirect passes only link power, and no domain history (content). WIll it work in this case? THX

MOZ SPAM SCORE will remain as it is unless you remove all the bad links the domain got which is near to impossible.

301 redirects transfers everything which means anchor texts, links will start showing up on your new website.

You can ONLY remove a manual penalty by adding the domain to GSC and ask Google to review and in review you mention you are a new owner and have nothing to do with previous site.

BTW, these days Google is very strict so unless the domain is very Niche Relevant to your site it's not very beneficial interms of ranking on the SERPs. Building a new site on an aged expired authoritative domain still works tho.

I believe any penalties will transfer over after some time.

It has only 55 backlinks, most of them strong, no spam links. Anchors are clean as well (Brand anchors), what can cause spam score besides that it was badly repurposed in the past (seen on archive org), so why would the spam score pass to new domain? Cause new domain has no relation to what was poste don old domain, it jjust benefits of the incoming 301 links.
 
Redirecting an expired domain with a spammy history to a new clean domain using a 301 redirect can pass both link equity and potentially some spam signals
 
Expired domain's strong metrics might be overshadowed by its spammy past so redirecting it to your new site might end up in risks transferring a potential penalty.
 
My advice, avoid doing 301 now. It might impact your ranking in negative way. Telling this from my experience with 301 and recent updates.
 
Any 'black marks' on the spammed domain will be transferred with the 301. A common tactic several years ago was the 'double 301' redirect (redirecting spammed domain -> buffer domain -> clean domain) but I haven't seen that used in a while. Google is all over the place at the moment, so who knows if this works again?
 
Think easy man! if you point 301 you get the link juicy pass so why you can't take the spam signal too? Is Google all lovers for you only? You get the both spam signal and link juicy too.
 
Please delete the links you spam for a while and then all penalties will be removed

I tried this and it didn't work too well. but that's just me.
