Spam on *your* blogs

Having recently started a blog that I am making into an authority site, I debate each and every spam comment I get. Sometimes I find myself looking at a comment that I know is purely for a pr3/pr4 backlink from my blog, yet I have zero legit comments on any of my posts... So when I see a well thought out response despite the fact that I know its backlink spam, I actually keep some of them for what I call "onsite authority."

What does BHW feel about this? Is it not worth it and possibly devaluing my site's PR? Or does it not affect me and these guys are just lucky guys enjoying this symbiotic relationship? Should I just fake my own comments and link back to my web 2.0's instead (post with proxies)?

I get daily spam from one of my sites. It gets right on my tits.

They don't even make an effort: Did you know you can make $443/week working from home? Or my favourite one lately: My cousin sent me to your site. This was a great subject matter indeed. I will come back soon. Link.

I just hit the delete button.

A well thought out response? You mean one that goes along with the subject of your post?

In that case, it's just a comment. Why delete it at that point? Good comments are simply good comments.

But how about this:
What if the people who comment write a super legit coment, but they use a keyword like "cheap rhino balls"? Do you approve the comment?

Don't worry dear "Desolite"... You just need to delete all these spamming comments or post...

If the comment is related to content and adds value to my page, I keep it. If it is just spam... delete.
