Spam links are useful?

I was analysing one of my competitor backlinks profile and I see a lot of backlinks from spammy sites.

The competitor website is ranked #1 on many keywords.

I see he's getting a lot of backlinks from unuseful sites like:

http://www.durablewpcfloor.com/borse-di-studio.html

So my question is, are those spam backlinks useful?

Spammy backlinks work for a very short time. After sometimes the website will be slapped by Google for sure.

So for the long run, spammy backlinks are not useful. Whitehat strategies are the key to long-lasting in SERP.

I have checked my competitor backlinks on majestic seo. It has only spam links and it's ranking well. It's more than a year that it's on top positions.

Would you like to check and tell me what do you think about this backlinks profile?

Not useful for long term standard results.

Yes, to a certain extent. As you can see he got #1 thanks to them.

There are probably hidden links like PBN that you can't see that actually got him the rankings tho.

Well, as you have said that such backlinks got the site on top for more than a year now, what matters here is careful execution of the technique. But if I were you, I'd steer clear from spammy links. High rankings with their help are not an assurance that owners are profiting from them.

Honestly I don't understand why spammy links are valued safe in this case by google. However I think if I can get on top 3 with spammy links I will be happy.

So I really don't understand why everybody says don't build spammy backlinks when I see a lot of people still does it and get success.

I have a lot of sites wiith good content and good backlinks that are stucked in third page.

Not really working for the long term. But for short term, it could be. The problem with spam links especially from the automated software is the fact the webmasters/ link owners will remove your links sooner or later once they realized that you were trying to spam their websites.

I will try to explain better.

One of my competitor has links from only 13 domains:

migliormutuo.it
durablewpcfloor.com
finest.biz
sullarete.it
scientists.biz
gamesnsoftware.com
phototourismbg.com
test-echinacities.com
bonifico.org
besana-assicurazioni.it
pret123.com
tokomanshurin.com
inservices.it

The first one is a forum, one is a directory, two are topic related sites and all others are spam sites. The competitor domain is ranking well on a lot of very competitive kw.

I've checked this on majestic, don't know if ahrefs can give me more backlinks.

If I have seen this backlink profile I'd said this website will never rank. But reality is different. I want also add that ths site is a microniche blog with only 18 pages. The homepage is very huge and informative.

That's where my question came from.

It is complicated, depends on how Google understands the keywords, if Google have a solid definition of it then spammy links wont work. But there is also the other competitors to compete for the keywords and you must count the quality of their links as well.
From my understanding, Google will rank a keyword with spammy links if it doesnt understand the keyword well enough.

Hi @Tropicalista, They can push your rank in short-term. But in the long-run, they will get your penalty.

You Better Disavow those Spammy Backlinks.

Those are not my backlinks. Those are my competitor backlinks.

This is why I'm asking here. I have clean backlink profiles, good content quality, superfast site and still stuck on 5th page...

Think of it this way, some spammy site wanted to diversify links in their content. They googled, got your competitors link at the top, and just linked it. Might be a true story, who knows lol.
