Spam Comments on Wordpress

Akismet is not free. But, reCaptcha is. As @saimdesign said, i tried reCaptcha, but there seems to a technical error.
I'm not able to find what the cause of the error is.
 
I activated 'Advanced ReCaptcha' plugin on Wordpress, and it seems to not be appearing on the comments at all. I guess there would be something which i have not properly worked on. The keys are set right, but the captchas aren't appearing at all.
 
Use Akismet plugin is good for anti spam and use login option for blog comments
 
My site has advertising but I don't earn enough to pay for Akismet, can I still use the free version?
 
Yeah you could also use anti-spam plugins to filter those out...

They do have an option to determine your own price, I think I did that for one site. Paid $6 a year or something like that.

In Discussion section there is a checkbox "users must be registered to comment". Tick that and comment boxes will be gone from whole website, unless visitor registers.

That can cause reduction in spam comments but genuine comments will also lower as less people will bother to register to comment.
