I'm looking to add backlinks to my articles. I seem to have everything else in place but this.

I also don't have money to spend on them, unfortunately. I do remember tricks of making a biy.ly as a backlink, posting on reddit etc.

So, I have two questions:

- Where can you get free backlinks as of 2025?
- How effective will they be?

If you search google for free you will get many backlink insides from there you can backlink

It's hard to get free quality backlinks this day, especially contextual backlinks.

A couple of links you'd get won't even help in most cases.

This is just the bitter pill that heals.

Only links I build are from medium, reddit, linkedin, quora, pinterest and a few relevant sites that allow me to blog comment and/or guest post.

You can get free backlinks through guest posts, HARO, forums, and broken link building. Quality matters more than quantity—one solid link is worth more than a bunch of weak ones!

Free backlinks are moderately effective, bringing 3-10 rankings boosts for low competition keywords and 3,000-5,000 visits per month in 4-8 weeks (per time). Guest posts and HARO provide the highest SEO value (DA 30-50+), while Reddit/Quora bring referral traffic but limited link juice (nofollow, per time). Bit.ly links are poor and risky.

There are still a few solid ways to get free backlinks in 2025 things like niche-relevant forum profiles, Quora answers, Reddit (in moderation), and guest comments on blogs can help. They're not super powerful on their own, but if you're consistent and combine them with good on-page SEO, they do move the needle over time.
