Something weird happening recently, What do you think?

To keep it short,

2 KW 2 Sites.

KW1 - Ranking 14 for weeks, suddenly drops to 200. Another version of that KW with 'S' . KWS still on same spot.(15)

KW2 - Wont rank for its targe keyword anywhere.

I make small changes and update the content, KW1 comes back to its original position for sometime and goes back. Whereas KW2 came to 7th spot, stayed for a day and then disappeared again.

I can't understand what is happening here. Any suggestions? Ideas?

I have something like this happening on a site but I think that's because of the stuff I am doing. i.e. building lots of links.

I am not even link building. Fckin google is acting like a crazy ex ever since matt cutts left.

It's happening for a lot of sites from starting of December.Google Might updated some algorithms.

Just concentrate on updating pages with high-quality content & build links from high metrics sites related to your niche.

Google has updated like Rank Brain and used to rank all of pages with high weight of brand recognition and with high mobile rankings - as "mobile first"
If you brand is not relevant to the niche - Google will drop it down. I mean - if somebody from traffic get visited only 1 page per session, or leave site too fats - it will cause like penalties. By the way - those changes were happens for Yandex.ru too. So there can be a lot of reasons, why it happends like you wrote.

Try making changes to your anchors and see if you have over optimized onpage too.

I'm seeing this too. Not really seeing the rationale behind ranking plurals differently, seems to be a pretty idiotic thing to put so much weight on. I'm also seeing #1 rankings swapped out for thin crappy pages so spam is still working.
