something embarrasing when you search my name in google

okay, i don't know how this happened but at some point i purchased some domain names on godaddy and forgot to add privacy. they are kind of embarrasing. and they pop up number 1 for my name. how can i go about getting rid of this? they expire in august. should i let them expire? or should i put privacy on them now? what would be the best way to make them go away? thanks for any help

I would probably still get privacy because I think your info will still be there as the last person to have it even after it expires.

Registrars don't delete things immediately, I think they give you 60-90 days to recover your domain? So your info could potentially still show up even after the domain expires. If you get privacy then the privacy contact info will show up until the domain is gone for good.
 
I suggest you get privacy now because every marketer should protect their identity.

You are in danger of spam, crazy stalker competition, and maybe even your family finding out that you like teen porn.

A few of my friends like to google other peoples names and I'm sure other people also like to do that.
 
Lol, what's your domain name?

if you are making money from it add protection, information is left 60 days after expiration.
 
if u dnt need them,jus sell them.....the whois info will change automatically and u'll be out of the results in a few days.
if you are making money from them,jus transfer them to name.com....u get free privacy and one year extension for total jus $6.99 i guess.....no point to waste $$ for jus 2 months....if u want to spend,make it worth,
 
why dont u just change the whois to fake information???

no sense in paying for privacy.
 
I wouldn't rely on your details disappearing when your site expires to be honest.

I had a similar issue when I first started out, with not getting privacy, and hence, it showed my home address and telephone number. This was listed with some sort of domain registration site (not whois) and remained there for 2 years after the domain expired!! It is only very recently that the information has disappeared from my search results.
 
If I were you i would build an online reputation and create a product under my own name as a brand and make a good buck for it, check this post this might inspire you (but this post created in nov 2007 :p

well if it is a site that u dun wish ppl to find out about ur details, then go for privacy.... otherwise, dun bother too much about it.
