Hi there. I've dabbled a little in social media marketing as part of former jobs, but now I'm a researcher studying social media algorithms. More specifically, I'm studying how Instagram content creators/influencers learn and think about the platform's algorithms.

I'm looking for folks to interview as part of a study, but also want to learn from this very knowledgeable community. :)

I used to be a librarian and got interested in how algorithms regulate visibility of information on social media after reading The Filter Bubble by Eli Pariser. Then, when I managed social media accounts myself, I started seeing all the behind the scenes "hacking" that goes into achieving exposure. Once I actually started researching algorithms, I got interested in who knows what about algorithms and how. Many average users do not know about the presence of algorithms online and this concerns me as they play such an important role in the flow of information online.
