Someone reported that I copied just 2 sentences from their website and google contacted me. I deleted the product review immediately when I saw the message.
Is there going to be a problem now? What might happen?

Please share your thoughts and experience with me. Thank you in advance.

Don't worry , as long you have remove it you are cool, resubmit your page for review. Your website SEO is not effected for just ONE time party :)

I deleted the post right away... I hope nothing will happen with my website.

Those must have been two really good sentences to be worth all this effort! ;)

Google can detect duplicate content and your site can be penalized for that. But there's nothing worry since you already deleted it .

If you received DMC google will deindex your page soon. You could appeal that but it takes long time and there is no guarantee.
Your best course of action is to delete that post, create a new page and spend time on building links to that page so you can get your ranking back.

Google will not penalize your whole website, they'll only penalize that post against which DMCA was filed.

Don't copy anything from anyone's site. Always use original content and use copyscape.com to check plagiarism.

Okay, assuming you've learnt your lesson it's time to move on. Get new text and move on with it. Forget about what happened. Let bygones be bygones because as on date that problem is as good as over.

The vast majority of the newspapers will run the same post from Reuters, Bloomberg, AP and others so why don't they get penalized for duplicate content?

Syndication. It's treated differently. A link back to the source = syndication. If they don't and it is actually dupe then they're so far past authoritative that G just forces them to up their PPC budget lol. Google pulls strings and makes billions. They could wipe their whole organic listings and make up weird rules so you go PPC....oh wait...they already do.

Because vast of majority of newspapers have a licence to do that and google has different rules for news. The OP was or will be penalised not for duplicate content but because some have filed DMCA against one of his posts claiming that he copied some sentences from their website. That's copyright infringement, not duplicate content.

what about images ? if you write the source or owner name on the images you use for your website would that be ok?

Thank you guys for your replies. I deleted the post and I re-wrote it already and it's all fine. I've learned my lesson. Not even one word will be copied again.
