If you want to clone a site yourself;
#1 Setup nginx on port 80; apache on 81.
#2 Install http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/rewrite/proxy.html
#3 Install http://nginx.org/en/docs/http/ngx_http_sub_module.html
#4 Take URI of request and request via proxy to target
#5 Substitute the response with your own domain in nginx
#6 ????
#7 Profit.
If should note; you'll be using proxypass in nginx to call apache but you are able to handle the response in nginx in variables; you can't easily in apache.

I used to do this ^_^. pick up some awesome website, then change a little bit,(replace the logo and ads to my own). now I quit ,for this kind of mirror website never get traffic from google.
Yeah... if you have the backup of someone's site you can get the same exact site on a different domain
???

I feel for you, OP. Same thing has just happened to one of my websites. They registered the same domain name as mine but with a different extension and just cloned my whole website. Their site redirects to one of the major online outlets, which I presume they are an affiliate for. Doing some research into who has done this has yielded some interesting results.

he might have used https://www.httrack.com/ it mirrors the entire site

So how does it work in terms of the new content showing up on the mirrored site? If I understood this correct even new content is mirrored.. so is his site periodically being accessed to get the updated copy? That is the part I don't understand
OP's post doesn't say that new content is showing up. Just comments. Comments are kind of plugin-dependent right? So he probably kept the ID the same so that's why they show up on both sites.
New posts aren't showing up on the mirrored site.
