Someone has hacked my paypal

Did you call them, clean your machines for potential virus, did you use PayPal on a public wifi then try and contact that place owner and tell him to check if hackers are using his wifi to hack. Keep us posted here

What do you mean, unknown to you and it's not your fault? Sim-swapping. If you run on RDP that can be cracked neither of these are your fault.
If a database was hacked into, your information could be leaked unaware to you and that too, is not your fault. Hey, even if your 9 year old son/brother sneaks into your laptop and downloads some hack for his game and they steal your money before you can check. That isn't really your fault either.

I win.
Ok, I see your point, totally agree btw, but I wasn't talking about GF that you've picked up last night and she "borrowed" your phone for 5 minutes and went to bathroom "to make an important call". Of course that could happened to best of us. I was just elaborating in generally on basic security.. all I'm saying.. combination of clean OS, strong password and common sense does wonders and usually it is enough to keep things right. But sometimes, well yes sh#t happens regardless of how huge your safe-box is..

Paypal has you covered. Speak to one of their Filipino agents, they can detect alien IP.

Check your email on haveibeenpwned. If you use the same password on any site your credentials were compromised from, then that's most likely the culprit.

Paypal is pretty good with refunding unauthorized payments, so don't sweat it too much. Just change your password and enable 2FA.

you can report it as an unauthorized payment, there is an option that you can pick to dispute the charge. Paypal will typically side with you as they will notice that there was some unauthorized activity from your account
