Someone hacked and stole my instagram!

I am looking for any advice at all as Instagram themselves are next to useless, my Instagram was somehow hacked and user name and content changed (they took my large follower base essentially) and not only is the a$$ho!e selling shoutz and abusing my followers in the process but also is taunting me by IM me and talking $h!t and attempting to extort me, I cannot find any real info about whom is the current owner as everything is cloaked thru domainbyproxy or fake name emails and accounts.

I do have a few small pieces of info ive been able to gather to go off of ...I have there ad sense ID and paypal email ..but that's about it

Where were you using the account? Instagram bot or anywhere?

Cant you just simply change the passwird of the account by selecting "forgot password" and you can use that option to reset your password from the email that you signed up with this shouldnt even be an issue!

You should try resetting the password. Create a complex password (use numbers, lower and upper case letters, symbols). Do the same for accounts at other websites. Avoid using cracked software because they are often infected with malware (sometimes not even detected by anti-virus software) Use your antivirus to scan your computer.

Did you try to contact the IG support? You will be asked to provide a registration email and a few uncropped pics from your feed. It doesn't take much time to restore an account, especially if you have a proof that you're the original owner.

Then recover your password, change it to something very secure.

Make sure you have capital letters, lowercase, numbers & special characters.

That will help against brute-force attacks.
