What is difference between ''cost per sale'' and ''cost per lead''?

Cost Per Sale = How much you are spending to get a Sale .
Cost Per Lead = How much you are spending to get a Lead .

If you are making an offer for any product and running a campaign for it so when CPL means how many $ you have to spend when someone enter his / her details , CPS means how many $ you have to spend when some one will purchase from that campaign.

a lead isn't a sale.

If I sell you a car, thats a sale. If I paid $10 for an email campaign that resulted in you buying that car, cost per sale was $10.

If I get you to fill in a contact form on my website and I get your name, phone number, email and type of cars that you are interested in buying, thats a lead. If I paid $10 for a display advertising campaign that helped you find my site and fill in the form, cost per lead was $10.

thank you

Lead doesn't necessary involve purchasing something, it can be filling out the form for example, registration.
