I plan to go to Thailand for 6 months, read many boards about this but the information is always different, I would like to get answers to several questions from people living there with prices up to date at the moment ...
Minimum monthly price for condo? (25-30 sq.m. / 10-20 min walking to beach)
Daily food price? ( 3 times per day )
I plan to go to Pattaya and want to know cheapest options, ill be grateful for every advice...
Thx

Not from Thailand but been there before and going back in a couple of months :)

In my opinion Pattaya is a tourist hole full of expats sleazing on thai girls. But if thats what your after....?!

Anyway my friends cousin lives out there in Bangkok and has said prices have risen in the last year or so. Plus the exchange rate isnt as friendly to anyone coming from the UK or US. When I was there last I use to eat street food which is the cheapest way to go. You can get by on $5 a day for food easy. Bangkok costs more, as will Pattaya.

Are you going to travel there or live for a while/ever?

Im going not for thai girls, my gf with me :o
Bangkok very industrial for me , all i need is sun, palms and sea (and adsl for sure)

I live in Thailand.
If you are coming with your GF, Pattaya may not be the right place for you. As Jimbo mentioned Pattaya is filled with foreign tourists looking for girls. You won't feel comfortable living 6 months there with your girl friend.

You might want try Phuket. You get all the facilities of Pattaya. But in Phuket there are less sex tourists compared to Pattaya. Moreover the beach in Pattaya is really dirty now. You won't find any white sandy beach there. Phuket on the other hand still got some beautiful beaches.
However if you must go to Pattaya, then stay in Jomtien which is just 15 minutes from Pattaya city. Less crowded and better beach.

Food: If you can eat Thai food at local restaurants, then $5 to $10/day. If you go to established restaurants, then expect tp pay $10/meals. And you can always get a Mc burger for $2. ;)

low class restaurant starting at 100 Baht per meal
middle class 200-300 Baht per meal

from 7-11 grocery store
a 1.25 l bottle of water 12 Baht
a can of coke 13 baht
big pack of chips 30 Baht

double wopper 200 Baht

hope this gives directions

I live and work in Pattaya, and while Walking street and mongering are one of the main attractions for tourists, the city has become more and more 'family' friendly over the years. The beaches are nice, and there are several more secluded beaches to chose from, not to mention the islands.

I live here with my wife, and our condo costs 6,500 baht each month. You can get apartments and private rooms from 2000 and up, with furnished ones around 4,500 or so.

I have lived in all areas of thailand and would have to suggest Koh Samui then bangkok then ao gnang in the south.

Got all you want there and the local internet provider has 3mbps broadband thats fast as anything i have used.

come chill out in Phuket man.. beaches are amazing, Thai girls event better and damn cheap drinks

fastest is now 16MB in bangkok with true internet
the internet outside of bangkok is really crappy.

If you work heavy duty internet related stuff,i would suggest doing that in bangkok

if it's just checking your daily income then anywhere is fine ;)

1. You can not swim on the beaches in Pattaya they are very dirty if someone tell you otherwise they are blind :)/

2. Phuket cost much more then Pattaya but is better to stay with a girl and you can swim on the beach. My webmaster friend stay in Samui pays 19 000 THB his condo is over the sea.

3. Thai food 1 Dollar if you know where to go you need about 4 meals a day other prices are correct.

4. I lived in Phuket Bangkok and Pattaya 10 years in Thailand Pattaya is best for me i think. It is no traffic jam and the weather is always sun and i never go to the beach anyway.

End of this year I am going to move Thailand for 6 months also. I have read a lot of articles past 2 months and I think that Phuket is the best place for me. There are offers about 9000THB per month one bedroom apartment, included all the taxes like water, internet, air conditioning and even pool.
