Someone Else Registered My Domain Name?

Hello,

I'm right now banging my head against the wall. I purchased almost a year ago a website from someone.
The website was making around $60-110 monthly (it's rather seasonal) . Yesterday the domain name expired.

I didn't know the domain was about to expire and that it wasn't on auto renew at NameCheap.
Yesterday, the same guy I bought it from, came online and asked me about if I was the person he sold it to, I didn't speak
to him for over a year or so. This is why I suspect he's the one that bought it....

Now he's offline... I lost the domain name.... Now I'm basically $700-1300 down, as that's what this website is worth accordingly to it's monthly revenue x12.

Anything you would recommend me to get this domain name back or something?

Move on mate.

Contact the guy back and see if he is the one that garbed it, maybe he will sell it back to you if your lucky.

Unfortunately, you missed the boat my friend.

The only thing you can do it contact Name.com Support Team and explain the situation. I doubt they will be able to help you though as the "other" buyer has purchased the domain name "legally".

Let us know how this goes as I am interested in the outcome of this situation.

Thanks everyone for their responses. At first I thought my only choice was to negotiate with the new owner.
Thanks to Amsterdammer, I got my domain name back +REP for him.

I made sure to keep it on auto renew as well as all the important websites I own.
