manipulate the Twitter trending algo.

Just imagine if you can place a company's product or brand to be trending on Twitter - the service would be worth millions.

If this can be done i'm willing to invest some of my well earn't pennies.

probably doable using all the BH account out there but after you divide the profits up between acounts probably not worth it

Couldn't you just create 1000's of fake accounts, use proxies to sign in, and spin a tweet but use the same hash tag?
