I decided to write a few words about addiction as I was always addictive personality and thought about it a lot. I smoke, used to gamble pathologically, and abuse drugs. People who never did those things will just tell you "Why don´t you stop then?" But it's more complicated than that.

Most people will imagine just cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol. But addiction is something that we could not live without and was always important for our survival. We have spent more than 95% of our evolutionary history as hunter-gatherers, and our brain is very similar. Thanks to addiction you will always crave things you need to survive. If you decided to stay in a cave instead of hunting You would most probably die, but addiction makes it something more than things you need to survive. Hunting required a lot of energy and If you only went after feeling hungry it could be fatal.

When you are born, Your mother feeds you so you get addicted and start to crave it and cry when you want to eat. Because so soon in life you could never grasp that you need food to survive because if you don't eat you will die. Addiction solves it primitively by making you crave that thing so it's always a top priority for you to get those things no matter if you want or not. Like Drug users will do everything even lying and robbing their own families to get that drug.

Let's say You consciously decided to not eat, Your brain will be like "wtf this is stupid" take lead over your conscious almost like an auto-pilot and go Hunt. That's why it´s so hard to fight addiction, Once you start smoking You train your brain that smoking is something you need to survive, like everything you start doing regularly. The brain can't if it's good for you or not, that's the job of Your conscious to decide. So If you consciously decided to stop smoking, Your brain will be like "wtf this is stupid" takes over and make you go smoke, because it thinks Your life depends on it almost as much as on Food or Water.

Just take a look at these Withdrawal Symptoms:

1. Having urges or cravings
2. Feeling irritated, grouchy, or upset
3. Feeling jumpy and restless
4. Having a hard time concentrating
5. Having trouble sleeping
7. Feeling anxious, sad, or depressed

Same behavior as when You are Hungry or Sleep Deprived, but it's fake because You won't die by quitting smoking obviously

I hope this helps someone even tho there are no exact tips, maybe it helps You to realize it's just this primitive need. And also a big SCAM on Yourself...

So, I am happy that I am not addicted to anything. I faced so many times with friends circle to take drugs, smoke, or other addictive things. But I always avoid these shits. I never understand how an addicted person feels, and I don't want to understand. My advice to people is never to fall into this.

If you are addicted to something, then you need help. I can't argue with what you said my friend.

I found my old threads today. It’s crazy to see how sharp my mind used to be. I wrote complex analysis for fun, on top of the daily grind.

Ironically, one of those threads was a deep dive into addiction and brain survival mechanisms. Back then, I analyzed it like a scientist. Now, I realize I became my own case study.

Somewhere along the way, the machine broke. The "hustle" turned into silence.

The more I earned, the deeper I drowned in my addictions. Eventually, the money outweighed the passion and the intellectual curiosity that got me here in the first place.I shifted from building quality to just hustling low-quality work for quick cash. It was a hollow victory. It didn't fulfill me, and the burnout wasn't just probable—it was inevitable.

Looking at the forum now, I feel like a stranger. The vibe is different. The quality is... different.I just wanted to say that I miss the energy we had here.

Take care of your mental stack, guys. Once it crashes, the reboot takes years.

positive addiction Build you
Negative addiction destroys you..
There is no negative addiction. Our primitive brain only sees the immediate reward. The problem is that destructive addictions feel positive when you do them. If they felt bad immediately, nobody would get addicted.
