Hi, I want to know please, how hard it is to get a job on upwork starting from fresh account, also what are the top skills in demand?

I would suggest you mention you're new on upwork (even if the client can see it if they check your profile) and are looking for an opportunity when you apply for a job. The look of your public profile can increase the chance of getting hired so spend some time setting it up. Your first jobs should be the short easy ones so you get familiar with the procedure and you get your first 5 star ratings quickly. I don't know what the top skills in demand would be right now. I am mostly doing translations but also got some nice customer support contracts. After some (10+) jobs and with a 4-5 star ratings, the clients will start contacting you. It took me probably a year to come to this point that I don't have to look for the clients anymore.

People are boosting their reviews by buying reviews. do that then everything comes along later on. I would not hire a newbie on upwork for my projects myself

Instead of figuring out what the top skills in demand are on upwork and then hustling to learn it, you'll have much more chances of success if you bid on jobs for which you have the skills already.

Step 1. good profile (what's in it for the employer think of them as greedy scum and write it that way like you are a stupid looser and you will work cheap for them)
Step 2. Sell an interview. How? Look at step 1
Step 3. On the interview sell the job. Look at step 2 (greedy scum).
I pay my bills working for these scum 99% of employers are scum but they pay me all the time! I hate working for them but till I get some direct automated business up I stick with upwork scum and work for them!
