Some SEO Questions

Hi,

Am just gonna cut straight to the point here i've read countless threads on BHW about on page SEO and stuff you should and shouldn't be doing and there is so many different opinions flying about that i don't know what to believe. So i've decided to write some questions of my own and hope some of you out there can add some clarity to the situation.

1) In terms of on page SEO does you meta description have to contain your keyword or can it just be a generic description?

2) For people with wordpress sites should your post URL contain your keyword at the end or your full article title?

3) Do internal links add any benefit to your site in terms of SEO?

4) If i am targeting a low search term and i write an article about it and i mention the keyword three to four times throughout my article and also in the title is that enough for the google spider to pick the keyword?

5) What sort SEO strategies are most effective in 2017?

title with keyword, you need the free yoast plugin it will tell you what to do.

If you mean linking to other pages in your site, yes.

probably, again yoast plugin will help you with this.
5) What sort SEO strategies are most effective in 2017?
mostly white hat IMHO

1. I include kw in meta desc... Why not? 160 characters is not enough for u?
2. Yes it should
3. Yes internal linking is important. you should have interlinked at least two most related pages to every post + always link your most important page that u try to rank (from everywhere)
4. dont care about density. care about h1,h2,h3,h4,url,img filename,page meta title,strong(bold) etc. if you include in these u will already have very high density

1) From my small testing, it looks like META tags don't have any impact at all, except maybe the meta containing the date which will actually show you the date in SERP when it was written. What am I saying is that I indexed with no problem articles which had no META ON PAGE tags like meta desc, title, or URL. Btw, Google picked up the first paragraph and added it to SERP's description.

2)I usually post the exact keyword in the URL, but using a variation with the keyword included seems better.

3) Yes, they do.

4)As long as Google can find that keyword on your page, you'll rank for that keyword. How many times you'll write it, won't have an impact on how fast Google will crawl your page. If Google finds it and considering it won't be something suspicious, then it will index it.

Writing a keyword 3-4 times, esp. a long tail one, will more likely result in over-optimization.

5) The ones that will actually rank you. A broad question deserves a broad answer.

One other thing i wanted to ask is if i add 2017 to the end of my article titles do you think that would make a difference to how i rank?

SEO is divided into two options On Page SEO and Off Page SEO. On Page SEO is more important than Off Page SEO.
There are different factors for On Page SEO.
The Meta description is one of them, You should add your keywords in the meta description.
Post permalink or URL is an SEO issue. Keep your permalink short and sweet. Just add your keywords in your Permalink, remove all the stop words from your permalink such as on, it, with, into, to, from and more.
Internal and external linking is important issue of SEO. Add your relevant article links and you can also add the link to another relevant article from another high authority blog. It will pass the strong link juice.
At the beginning, you are selecting low competitive keywords, it is perfect for you. It increases the chance to rank higher and get some organic traffic. You should select long tail keywords, use LSI keywords.

• High-quality, unique and detailed content.
• Do some keywords research before writing.
• Do On Page SEO properly.
• Internal SEO issues such as site design, navigation, siptemap. robot.txt and more.
• Guest posting still very effecfive.
• Comment on high authority blogs.
• Forum posting. Use different forum sites such as Warrior, BlackHatWorld, DigitalPoint.
• Question & Answer sites like Quora, Yahoo Answer.
• Social Networking sites. Share your content regularly.
• Join different blogging communities and share your blog.
• Make a good relationship with your influencers.

Just build your authority and increase your trust level.

Yes. You need to add your primary keyword in the Meta description and it must be a solution for the users who have searched that keyword term in organic results.

2) For people with wordpress sites should your post URL contain your keyword at the end or your full article title?

IMO, if your keyword in the title it would be nice but it’s not necessary as well, because the title is need to describe exactly what you get in the articles.

3) Do internal links add any benefit to your site in terms of SEO?

Yes. Internal linking is an important thing for On-Page SEO. It will help to index all your site pages frequently.

Keyword density is important in making of articles for websites. Maximum we can add upto 4 to 5 keywords in 1000 words articles and also use alt tags for your images in that article. Post tags are important for on-page SEO. It would be enough for spider to pick your website.

5) What sort SEO strategies are most effective in 2017?

Simply Quality not Quantity! High quality backlinks from high indexed sites with well optimized native content is the best strategies for twenty seventeen SEO.

in addition to what's already said, you can also use textoptimizer as it will show you how your article is optimized for a certain keyword, as well as the other keywords that you can include on your article

Meta description is only good for increasing click through rate from the SERP, it does not directly affect ranking if your keyword is there.

However, your keywords in the meta description will bold to match the search query. This is good to catch a searcher's eye when they are scanning results; therefore, I still recommending using your targeted keywords in the meta description.

2) For people with wordpress sites should your post URL contain your keyword at the end or your full article title?

I always use my core/main keywords in title tags and URLs. These are two big ranking signals that help you rank, and help your click through rate.

3) Do internal links add any benefit to your site in terms of SEO?

Internal links pass page rank/link equity. It also connects the context and relevancy of your pages together. Also, it is good for users/UX to navigate your site and keep them on page so they don't bounce back to the SERP and lower your dwell time.

There is no magic number of times to use a keyword in your content, but it is a must you use them naturally. Make sure your keyword is in your title, URL, headings, and content.

Although, you can over optimize. Using a keyword too much can communicate to Google that your content is low quality, and potentially webspam.

5) What sort SEO strategies are most effective in 2017?

Content tends to reign supreme for low/medium competition keywords. You can rank for them with little to no links if your content is trustworthy, as well as having many other relevant landing pages/articles on your website that are relevant to the keywords you're targeting.

The more you spread your topical relevance across different keywords/niches/verticals, the less likely you might be to rank for them; whereas if all of your content revolves around one subject/keyword, this increases your perceived authority and expertise on the matter.

Also, technical SEO still tends to be overlooked. Make sure your site is tightened up for things like canonical tags, having only one version of your URL (ie don't have a www and non-www version), crawl-ability, site speed, and etc.

Another thing to do is optimize your content for being shareable and valuable. Outside of rankings it is good to focus on page/site speed, UX, and this like Open Graph meta data.

Schema/Rich Snippets is good to focus on too. If you're writing a review article, find a way to get a star rating rich snippet. If you're selling things online, use the low/high aggregated price markup. If implementing Schema is too advance/time consuming for you, then consider the Google Search Console data highlighter.

I also wanted to ask if you are running a wordpress theme that automatically links to other related posts at the end of your article is that counted as an internal link? Or do i have to create a text links to go to other pages on my site?

Make sure you put keywords in your H1 tags etc.
