I'm new to this and had some questions
  • If you use a mobile proxy, do you have to spoof a mobile user-agent?
  • Are residential proxies safe for reddit? Mobile seems really expensive.
  • Do you really have "warm up" by simulating browsing every so often?
  • Do any anti-detect browser offer headless api so you can do warmup automatically with minimal fuss?
  • Is headless api safe or will it be detected?

I'm not familiar with Reddit but can answer some of these.

  • Spoofing user-agent is not sufficient for something like reddit. You need to spoof much, much more which is pretty technical and painful to learn (speaking from experience). That's why anti-detect browsers exist.
  • Many providers that offer cheap residential proxies include low quality, abused proxies that Reddit can detect. Mobile would be the best bet to be safe.
  • I'm not sure about warm-up, but in 2025 much smaller platforms implement some kind of warmup logic. I'd assume Reddit being a publicly traded company would require the same.
  • I know Dolphin Anty has support for headless. I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say is sites can detect or not
  • See above.

I am already using anti-detect browser. But in the anti-detect browsers they pick a user-agent and it's usually a desktop one, not a mobile one.

Use warmup scripts or browser automation daily or you’ll get clapped fast.

Neither mobile nor residential will work, you will be banned eventually. Every provider is abused, you will get 10 good IP's and then 1 bad .. 2-3 months like this then BAM! .. you are banned with rest of your accounts.

I use oxylab for proxy, used both mobile and residential - both are shit, I used Dolphin Anty - doesn't matter... 2 harmless comments and then account is gone.
Accounts had gmail email + verified phone number so trust score was not the issue.

If you wanna win this war you have to outsmart them, all simple things - they already not doable, only hardcore.

Also I'm not saying don't buy accounts but i purchased. 11 Year aged account + Mobile proxy + Dolphin and it was too banned in 3 hours. (2 non advertising comments were written)

Ah I see. I've only used Dolphin Anty and setup browser profiles via API, but from what I remember I think they force you to use a user-agent compatible with you current OS. I'm not an expert in browser fingerprinting, but AFAIK mismatching incompatible user agents (like Safari on Windows) is easily detectable and would definitely throw red flags.

I would just select a popular user agent for your OS to blend in the crowd and call it a day.

How many comments and karma did your account have? Maybe they ban old accounts that have very little activity. I noticed some account sellers here selling 5+ year accounts with no karma/comments which must look suspicious.

Plenty of people use their phone hotspot for internet. I often use my hotspot on my laptop - for legitimate purposes and for botting. I've never had an issue.

phone hotspot not same as proxy 4g. Yes they use same tech but often proxy subnets are heavily spammed. I yet to witness shitty ip score with my hotspot while with mobile proxy it very common

Deceiving user agents is not absolutely necessary when using mobile agents, but it can improve the success rate. Residential agents are usually safe for Reddit, but make sure to choose a reputable provider. Mobile agents are indeed more expensive, but alternative solutions can be considered. Simulating browsing to 'warm up' is a good habit, especially when making frequent requests, to avoid being banned. Regarding the headless API for anti detection browsers, there are some options to automate the preheating process, but security depends on the provider's reputation and technical implementation. Ensure the selection of validated services to reduce risks.

It depends on the provider. There are sellers that proxy actual devices they own or have direct control of (legally). These are usually more expensive, tied to 1 geo, and have unlimited usage. It's essentially like renting a device in another location and using it as a hotspot.

Many (not all, but many) of the cheap 4G sellers that charge based on bandwidth usage are sketchy af. Many times you're connecting to an infected device that was already abused by countless spammers/scammers. And if you examine the IPs you're connecting to, they may be diluted with datacenter proxies and other garbage under the hood. On top of that, the GB usage is hardly ever accurate. Sketchy service ran by sketchy people. They're cheap for a reason.

I used to think mobile proxies were all the same and would shop around for the cheapest providers. I tested many. I ended up sticking with a pricey one at $9/GB, but in the end I saved more money by burning through less accounts, solving less captchas, and rarely needing sms verification services.

Generally the cheaper the service, the more abused that pool is gonna be. You get what you pay for with mobile proxies.

  • If you use a mobile proxy, do you have to spoof a mobile user-agent?
ans: no you do not need mobile useragent, also proxies will eventually ban your account ( i have been testing for last few months recently i have found a way)
  • Are residential proxies safe for reddit? Mobile seems really expensive.
ans: dude they are not safe at all your account will eventually get suspended or shadowban
  • Do you really have "warm up" by simulating browsing every so often?
ans: yes you need to warm up if your account is new then you have to wait for few days before you start doing activity
  • Do any anti-detect browser offer headless api so you can do warmup automatically with minimal fuss?
    • ans: do not go with complete headless it can be detected, use popular antidetect browser and use simplest warm up script, ( i already made one for myself, it can move mouse, browse subreddits, search, upvote down vote, etc)
  • Is headless api safe or will it be detected?
    • no matter what its hard to go undetected there are so many ways it can still be detected either enterprise recaptcha v3 (which reddit is using its little bit more advanced than the normal recaptcha v3 you can check it out on source code of the reddit) it uses machine learning
for any other query hit me up :)

is there any way to avoid ban then?

how do you find a good one? Even brightdata and oxylabs seem to be listed on proxy dbs and they are pricey and even require kyc.

I disagree. I think you should use mobile user agent if you're using a mobile proxy. You can choose iOS or Android on Adspower, choose according to the proxy phone.
If Reddit sees that you're using a mobile hotspot on a PC then it raises redflags, it would obviously be better if Reddit saw mobile proxy and mobile phone usage,
You have to be very careful not to mismatch anything though or else it will immediately flag your account.

Yeah same question every time i saw, you just need a good way to warm up your account and in my opinion if you warm up your account for atleast 1 month then you don't need any proxies but of course if you want fast then you need proxies and yes proxies work

Yeah, so if you’re rolling with a mobile proxy, make sure to spoof a mobile user-agent too. Reddit’s pretty sharp - they’ll flag stuff if you’re using a mobile IP but your setup screams desktop. Residential proxies usually fly under the radar as long as they’re clean and from a legit provider. Mobile proxies get more trust, but they’re pricey and kinda overused these days. You’ll also wanna warm up your accounts - basically just mimic real human activity. Think casual browsing, mouse wiggles, scrolling around... That helps dodge those annoying soft bans. Tools like Dolphin Anty and GoLogin can handle most of that automatically if you're not trying to do everything manually. Just steer clear of raw headless mode - it’s super easy to detect. If you can, go with stealth plugins or just emulate everything in headful mode to keep things looking natural.

Yes, mobile user-agent to match mobile proxies. Residential is okay, as long as good quality and set up is good. Yes, warming up is essential.
