Some questions about putting Amazon affiliate links on articles

I am using Pretty Links (non-paid) to cloak and 307 redirect my affiliate links. Was initially planning to use the AAWP plugin to make it more appealing but don't want to pay for their pro version.

1. How many affiliate links would you recommend putting on a single article? Currently, I am putting 2 relevant links per article. All my articles are informational.

2. Should I put the affiliate link to the same product multiple times in the article for higher conversion?

3. I already have an affiliates disclosure page on my site. Do I need to put affiliate disclosure on individual articles too? (Some sites are putting Amazon disclosure in the sidebar). I don't want to overload my article page by adding another widget in the sidebar.

Any other tips or suggestions is welcome in this regard.

1. there's no exact number, you just don't want to overdo it so you can avoid google's hammer, but "overdo" is an ambiguous term, just like most google's best practices, so it's up to you to decide how many links is too many.

When I did Amazon marketing (around 2016) I only had 1 link per page... it was actually a "buy on Amazon" button, not a link, per se. And for me it worked well (my conversions were usually around 4-5%, sometimes I even got conversions as high as 22%, but that was once or twice )

So yeah, it's up to you to decide. If your content is 1,500+ words long I'd say add 2-3 links, although 3 might be too many. But 2 is definitely fine, I would personally recommend only 1 link, but for 1,000+ words articles 2 links should be safe

2. I think you'll risk getting penalized by google for "low value content" or other dumb reason that they invent to get rid of affiliates. If your content is 800 words or less use 1 link

yeah, I saw that too. But you don't need to do it. If you already have the disclosure visible on the site you're good...

I've stopped doing Amazon marketing several years ago, but I remember at some point that Amazon required all of their affiliates to have a price display and for the price to auto-update itself on your site whenever it changed on Amazon's site.

This bullshittery is why I actually stopped doing Amazon marketing, it was a pretty big deal back then, and if they still require it you need to be very careful, because if visitors see a price on your site and the price is different to the one they see on Amazon's site when they click on your affiliate link then you could have your affiliate account closed. So, go through their TOS to see if this is still a requirement and implement it ASAP (there were WP plugins that automatically did this back then)

All my articles are at least 1k words long and some go up to 1800+ words. Putting 2 links per article. Would you suggest putting aff links in all articles or should I leave some articles as is? (Since I am using Pretty Links cloaker I should be relatively safe I guess?)

I am just putting normal hyperlinks with the product name or the type of product as hyperlinks. No price updating tables or anything fancy like that (too many HTTP requests) I just want to put the cookies of amazon on as many visitors as possible.

Do all of your articles speak about Amazon products? If they do (and this is bad IMO) you should definitely put links on all of those pages, otherwise you won't make money off them.

But try to have 1 commercial page every 5-10 info pages to avoid having your site flagged as affiliate site

Nope, not explicitly. My site has no "best x for y" kind of articles. On the contrary, all my articles target informational keywords. I just add relevant Amazon products that I recommend in between.
Example: For an article about "How to manage excessive shedding of my dog?" I would casually add link to a shedding brush while talking about ways to tend to their shedding.

Yeah I am trying different things out to find the sweet spot. Just afraid of overdoing it and getting the hammer from big G.

Add Amazon links every 5th or 6th page then. You'll miss out on income, but hopefully you'll keep your site safe

Pretty sure it will. You've had experience with affiliate sites so you'll know better than me.

the key word here is "had" (not "have", since I've not owned an affiliate site since January 2022). But yeah, send the link over, I'll take a look

I put the Amazon disclosure near the top of each article since all my pages are landing pages. I use alt tags for each Amazon link, starting with CLICK HERE to see this ______ on Amazon. I usually do not link to specific products, mainly link to a certain product type search results and let the visitor decide what he/she wants to look at and buy. I use one link per paragraph. I keep my paragraphs short for mobile and generally have a link in every other paragraph, but that varies according to content. Some products I cannot find on Amazon so in those cases I link to search results on eBay. I try not to have sales pitches or deceitful links because I want to build trust. My articles are mostly about electrical wiring so a typical link might be from a tool or part that I mention in the article. I usually do not repeat the same links unless it is very relevant. I think I have around 6 - 12 Amazon links per article, depending on the length. Lately, I have been adding an Amazon link at the bottom with the text "Help Keep This Site Free By Clicking Here for Amazon." Last month my Amazon Conversion was 19.29% which was high for me. Usually, it is in the 9 - 12% range. For the year so far, it is 11.46%. I found that Amazon converts the best because it has so much variety in addition to the products that I promote. I see people purchasing pet products, household items, electronics, power tools, and other things I do not link to. I think it is due to Amazon Prime.
