Some questions about buying domains for PBN use.

Howdy fam..

I'm about to pull the trigger on buying some expired domains to use as PBNs for my affiliate site.

I'm not super familiar with the associated metrics tho and I was wondering how many domains I would need to realistically rank for low-med difficulty keywords (not sure I trust ahref's take on it, as the power of backlinks can vary wildly)

The domains I'm looking at have a TF of 15-20, a TF/CF ratio of ~1 and all the backlinks are good and on topic for my niche.

In your experience how many of these set up as PBNs would it take to rank for a keywords with and ahrefs KD of 10?

Do a DNS check to make sure it's not dropped.

Then second find a relevant URL.

In all honesty that's the most important part, then links.

If you're working a site about TV Trays

Then you better find some PBNs about Trays or TV in the URL.

Those links will create huge amount of movement even if the
metrics are low in your SEO tools.

After that then you want to check links and make sure they are also
getting a bunch of links from those same sites.

First of all - links is ALL thats matter, TF/CF and any other metrics are good only to sort thousands of domains, after that - look at the links. You need good, from content (not profiles, not signatures etc) links, from authority websites, at least 1-2 links from major news outlets. Obviously have to be spam clear.

Relevancy is not that important at all. You can link relevantly from basically everywhere to anywhere with just a tiny bit of imagination. Lets say that your niche is viagra and your PBN domain was a restaurant. You know that fun story when one of the waitresses drop the blue pill in the cook`s drink and he was working 12 hours shift hard as rock? See what I did here? Relevant in content link for the fucking Viagra.

About dropped vs non-dropped - practically there is no difference between them link juice wise, however when is dropped you can hardly expect more than 25-30 RDs, while with auctioned non dropped sky is the limit. Respectively you can get dropped, available for registration domains in the $15-40 range, while auctioned usually start from $100. So thats depends of your budget.
