It's one thing to bank off a corporation's marketing strategy that you aren't associated with, but preying on others that are entrepreneurstic enough to make a leap of faith is another.

Glad you are able to access your shit, just verify EVERYTHING you have accepted, even by default. It'll take a while, and it'll challenge your knowledge for sure, but it's better to be able to sleep a day earlier and wake up knowing you did what you could without regret.
 
If you still have problems and want to hire a real hacker, just go and search on the deep net at "deepsearch" and you will find many people there willing to help. Of course, it can cost $x,xxx or even $xx,xxx for bigger sites
 
Hey OP, sad to know what happened to your site.

Are you on shared hosting? If yes, God Bless your websites, they can get hacked any time as the hacker will have access on many of the websites in the same server.

If your websites are not on shared hosting, Ask your service provider to cleanup the malicious things in your server.

Why do Hackers hack websites?

1. For Fun and Fame
2. For Money (These cPanel's get sold for 3-5$ in the market which are then used to spread malware and mass emailing.)
3. Some kind of Revenge

If you're on Hostgator then it isn't possible to access your site using symlink , also if you did nothing to your site recently then it means most likely you've been infected with RAT or Keylogger ...
 
One or more of your plugins/themes is not safe and well secured. search for the theme/plugin name exploits in google and if you fin any then disable that theme/plugin until a new release is made with a fix.
 
Hey OP. Do you use Filezilla FTP to upload files to your website? Filezilla is known for storing passwords in plain text on your computer. Some malware/ virus can search for those and upload it to hackers.
 
Can you describe the vulnerability or how the compromise to the website has been made to know what we SHOULDNOT do :) I am just curious because internet security is my passion.
 
Forgot to give advice, I use WAF Web Application Firewall for my server, CloudFlare( It is some level of filtering and even for know exploits). Also everything is different user, different pass and very well access policy. But the biggest and weakest point every system is the human factor, always...
 
Have you recovered your site yet? If not try editing your .htaccess file. (99% of the time that's how people are injecting their redirects on Wordpress sites)

first thing is check if you have backup in you cpanel account or contact hosting provider if they have any - dead hope tho..
for next time use some security plugin for wordpress like
Limit Login Attempts
bulletproof-security
Better WP security Plugin
etc..

also While opening email from unknown source open it in text view not html.
And its always to keep account password (cpanel or any other) as long as possible like 25-30 digits with special char. , number capital. you can write code in last page of your fav. book. or take a pic and encrypt it in your cell..
